Kano arrests 28 miscreants over planned thuggery 13th March 2025
The Kano State Joint Security Taskforce Committee has apprehended 28 individuals suspected of planning to engage in thuggery-related activities.
This information was shared in a statement from the committee’s Public Relations Officer, who is also the state Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, and was issued to the media on Thursday.
“From March 3rd to 13th, 2025, joint security operations led by the Kano State Government Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation resulted in the arrest of 28 suspected thugs (Yan Daba) and the seizure of dangerous weapons and illegal drugs,” the statement read.
The statement further revealed that these operations took place at key locations throughout Kano Metropolis, following intelligence reports of planned thuggery activities during the holy month of Ramadan.
“The Joint Security Operations, which involved the Police, DSS, NDLEA, NSCDC, Correctional Services, and Vigilante, led to the arrest of 28 suspected thugs and the recovery of various exhibits in Kano metropolis,” it stated.
Among the recovered items were 283 parcels and 14 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Cannabis Sativa, one cutlass, three scissors, one pointed iron, two bottles of “suck and die,” 13 packets of knockout, and one rubber solution.
The commissioner confirmed that the suspects have been charged and are set to appear before Chief Magistrate Court Number 12 at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport for prosecution.
